Huntsman is seeking a Mechanical Inspector supporting the Performance Products Division located in Freeport, Texas. This position will report to the Technical Manager.
Job Scope
The Mechanical Inspector supports the objectives of the Reliability program related to rotating equipment by bringing technical expertise to proactive, preventive, and corrective work on rotating equipment. This role executes tactics associated with delivering the strategic reliability plan including mentoring of crafts, providing technical assurance in the field and in outside shops, developing scopes of repair, and both troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis on failures to minimize production and equipment downtime and associated maintenance costs.
As the Mechanical Inspector you will:
With limited supervision and moderate decision making:

Makes routine inspections of rotating equipment and assists in the maintenance, modification, or improvement of equipment.

Create and maintain repair procedures and predictive/preventive procedures, along with associated frequencies, in collaboration with the Rotating Equipment Engineer.

Troubleshoot ahead of failures and create scope and hold points for rotating equipment repairs to be performed by internal crafts and external shops that will increase equipment life cycle and mean time between failure.

Maintains, assures, and updates proper documentation such as bills of materials (BOM) for equipment, equipment manuals and files, maintenance plans, oil and vibration analysis results, and equipment history/checksheets.

Active participant and sometimes leader of root cause analysis activities for rotating equipment failures.

Performs quality assurance and/or supervision on maintenance repairs both internally and in external shops.

Support all new rotating equipment projects through installation and commissioning.

Provides Operations and Distribution with technical assistance and instructions concerning the proper operation of mechanical equipment. Coaches Operations technicians to improve individual skills.

Support development of effective proactive rounds (by Operations and crafts) as well as preventive maintenance activities to improve reliability.

Assist with maintenance and updates to the mechanical equipment tracking spreadsheet (aka RPM Spreadsheet).

Responsible for the oil analysis and vibration programs with support from the Reliability/Rotating Equipment Engineer.

Provides oversight of the rotating equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) program. Collaborates with Operations Maintenance Coordinator to ensure PM Work Orders are scheduled, executed per the maintenance plan, and properly closed out with required documentation. Makes improvements to the Maintenance Plan.

Help qualify new shops and vendors, in collaboration with the Rotating Equipment Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.

Works collaboratively with team members of different backgrounds and perspectives.

Participates in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company, as well as required training programs.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess ALL the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma.
-
10+ years as millwright/machinist in a petrochemical or refinery facility.
-
3+ years of experience in field quality assurance/control
-
3+ years of experienced in use of a CMMS, preferably SAP to create work notifications, job scopes, new PM plans, checking/updating BOMs and parts.

3+ years of experience in permit to work and LOTO procedures
Skills and Knowledge:
-
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

Strong attention to detail.
-
Can stretch between assuring technical details in the field to managing documentation and delivery of reliability programs.

Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.

Team player who can work with multiple levels of the organization (craft to Engineering Manager) as well as across the organization (Operations, Maintenace, Engineering).
