Founded in 1964, BEHCO is a full service pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, motion control, and automation distributor, with in-house engineering and value-add manufacturing capabilities. BEHCO is seeking an experienced professional to drive growth and manage our vast product and solutions business as Vice President of Sales.
The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to a multi-state sales force while driving growth for the products and solutions BEHCO provides. As our Vice President of Sales, you will provide leadership in establishing relationships and building trust with internal stakeholders and customers. You will also be empowered to develop and execute strategies designed to meet business & customer requirements. This role requires experience and understanding of the requirements for selling to various customer types from end users to OEM’s and experience in automation application sales. The role will collaborate with our technical sales staff, application engineering group, and our in-house design and manufacturing group to propose value added solutions that will help our customers expand their business and prepare them for future challenges.
The authorized distributor sales territory is the entire State of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virgina and Western Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities
- Drive business strategy in alignment with the BEHCO vision and business goals.
- Develop the annual sales plan for each product line and service in coordination with the strategic business plan.
- Contribute to strategic and tactical planning for the division by defining product strategies and road maps.
- Review pipeline and forecast accuracy with the sales team, coaching and mentoring the sales team as needed.
- Identify and implement the optimal alignment of product offering vs. customer demand to drive growth.
- Evaluate and prioritize the need for additional resources to advance the sale, focusing on competitive advantage and cost efficiencies.
- Manage and develop a team of sales representatives, including recruiting, hiring, and training new reps on the distribution sales process.
- Develop effective materials for sales presentations, advertising, and promotions related to products and services offered by BEHCO.
- Ensure clients are satisfied with the products, services, and application solutions provided by BEHCO and remedy customer complaints.
- Provide leadership and direction in developing BEHCO brand.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of sales and commercial management experience working for or with a distributor.
- Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, motion control, and automation services.
- Ability to coordinate a cross-functional team approach in a complex sales cycle.
- Proven experience in closing strategic sales engagements.
- Experience with selling to various customer types, from end users to OEM’s.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly build trust and rapport and develop influential relationships at all levels of an organization as well as external customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of creativity/resourcefulness.
