Full Job Description

Responsible for keeping the freezers at peak operating capacity with the least amount of downtime at minimum costs. Supervises Refrigeration, Maintenance, Electrical, Wastewater and Parts personnel and the activities involved in each area to ensure efficient production of high-quality foods at the lowest possible cost with a minimum of waste.

Responsible for keeping the plant equipment operational 24/7.
Schedule varies to ensure the facility is operating at peak efficiency during harvest season.
Works very closely with the Operations Manager to verify that all equipment is in place and operating properly to produce product as specified on the production schedule.
Supervises all Refrigeration personnel; and administers and coordinates a Preventive Maintenance Program for all freezer personnel.
Works very closely with Freezer Operators to be certain the proper product temperature is obtained, and the freezer storage temperature and equipment is maintained.
Develops and continuously re-evaluates freezing procedures and equipment.
Reports all production and freezing statistics accurately and promptly.
Supervises all Maintenance personnel, Electrician, and the Parts Coordinator
Responsible for ensuring the following safety requirements are met:
- Conducting safety orientation and safety training of employees
- Enforcing safe work practices
- Correcting unsafe conditions
- Preventing lingering unsafe and unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards
- Investigating workplace accidents
Oversees the maintenance of equipment, new installations, layouts, line flows and special production problems as designated by the Plant Manager.
Oversees the Wastewater program, including its’ personnel. Works closely with DRC and other state/local agencies.
Requires all employees adhere to Company rules and regulations and provides the necessary orientation and training of new personnel and periodically follow-up, as necessary.
Requires all employees conduct to be in accordance with Company rules and regulations and where necessary administers discipline.
Maintains a high level of morale among employees and deals equally with any arising concerns according to established procedures.
Participates, as required, in external/internal training programs in order to learn new and better management techniques.
Researches, plans, and prepares proposals for approval relative to procurement of capital equipment, expansion construction, major maintenance projects, service contracts, etc.
Supervises and expedites emergency repairs necessary to minimize costly downtime and to maintain production schedules.
Assists in implementing food safety, legality, and quality policies within the scope of the job responsibilities such as, but not limited to: GMP’s HACCP, food safety, product quality, food security, governmental guidelines and requirements, pre-requisite programs, quality systems, etc.
Participates with the Plant Safety Committee by acting positively on recommendations and takes corrective action on unsafe and/or hazardous working conditions.
Formulates and develop a maintenance repair budget and assists in preparing a capital budget. Once the budget has been established, operates within budget parameters.
Always requires work areas to be kept clean and orderly.
Required to complete the OSHA 30 hour training.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

The qualified candidate will have prior experience in refrigeration/maintenance in an industrial environment, a degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
