Bilingual Medical Coordinators needed for new facility in Albion, Michigan!

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Coordinator uses sound medical and professional judgement to support the overall health and wellbeing of unaccompanied children and youth ages 10-17. Children are residing in a 24-hour shelter setting funded by the Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR). The Medical Coordinator schedules medical appointments, documents doctor’s orders, and ensures that prescribed medication is self administered by children in a timely manner according to prescriptions. The Medical Coordinator must ensure compliance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing standards, and ORR contract requirements. Must ensure the use of child friendly, trauma informed interviewing during all interactions with youth. Must strictly enforce and adhere to the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (ORR) Zero Tolerance Policy to prevent the abuse and neglect of unaccompanied minors and adhere to all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the personal safety of the children and youth being served.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Ensures timely medical and dental examinations are provided for children and youth adhering to state and federal requirements.
Gathers a comprehensive medical history
Conducts/facilitates COVID testing as needed,
Captures vital signs (blood pressure check, pulse, breathing rate, temperature check, etc.), including height and weight check and checks for any irregularities (such as: rash, blisters, infestation etc..) and documents in children’s medical chart.
Documents medical conditions and medications administered in the UC Portal and internal software system.
Ensures follow-up medical appointments for medical care are completed timely.
Coordinates transportation with Shift Leaders or Shift Supervisors for transportation.
May need to contact 911 for emergency medical care, and/or coordinate transportation services for medical care for children and youth.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED is required.
1 year of experience working with youth is preferred or social service setting.
Active license/certification for Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant
Current basic life support certification, PALS, and ACLS preferred.
Show a history of organizational skills and an ability to communicate accurately and effectively with multiple members of a team.
Well organized, highly motivated, excellent communication skills, leadership skills that also display integrity.
Understanding of Health Care Service procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred. Especially excel.
Clear MVR Check.
Clear Background Check. Including a national criminal fingerprint background check.
Clear drug testing results.
Clear Tuberculosis results.
In adherence with federal or state contract requirements (as applicable): Proof of COVID Vaccinations and other immunizations (i.e., varicella, measles, mumps, tetanus, Tdap, rubella, Flu, Hepatitis A and B).
