We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our regional Public Accounting client's team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation, compliance, and planning, as well as client interaction and team leadership. This is a great opportunity for an experienced tax senior that is ready for the next career step, or an experienced Tax Manager that is ready to step up to a Senior Tax Manager role. The firm will also be looking to add partners within the next few years, and this could be a great opportunity to move toward that goal.
Responsibilities:
- Take professional ownership and responsibility for multiple engagements and competing priorities.
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of company federal and state tax returns and ensure the timely filing of all tax forms.
- Complete complex engagement and/or complex documentation for review by senior manager or partner.
- Plan and perform engagements including resource scheduling and work delegation.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal teams to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction from both parties.
- Identify issues and recommend creative solutions to complex client issues.
- Pursue potential leads and exhibit the ability to retain clients and nurture relationships, as well as pursue opportunities to provide additional service.
- Continue to develop a Center of Influence (COI) for the purposes of network recruiting, future client relationships, and business development.
- Participate and lead various staff training courses or other firm meetings as needed.
- Exhibit the firm's values by serving on professional or civic boards or participating in other activities which enhance your reputation and the firm.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of public accounting experience; some corporate experience can be substituted.
- CPA certification.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to demonstrate an advisory mindset.
- Thorough understanding of legal and regulatory requirements and pronouncements.
- Experience managing multiple, complex projects with priorities adhering to quality, deadlines, and budgets.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
- Some experience identifying or attracting clients to the firm, as well identifying opportunities for providing additional service to existing clients.
- Proficiency in building effective teams, working effectively within the teams, as well as independently.
