POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Press Maintenance Mechanic aligns with manufacturing personnel in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment including hydraulic, electrical and mechanical operations and general maintenance in support of efficient and effective manufacturing and business operations. The Press Maintenance Mechanic’s primary responsibilities include troubleshooting and repair of our Injection Molding Machines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. (Depending on job performed at times this will exceed specified amount).
- Participate and assist in the maintenance of all company property including but not limited to manufacturing equipment, buildings, grounds, and others as necessary.
- Generate work orders for any repairs completed and or repairs that need completed on a later date.
- Identify or be aware of, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and upgrade manufacturing equipment with particular focus on hydraulics, electrical and mechanical operations by identifying root causes and issues.
- Complete project work including but not limited to fabrication, upgrades to equipment and facilities, and ground maintenance.
- Complete monthly preventive maintenance (PM) activities and contribute to the overall value of the PM program by identifying opportunities for improvement and expansion of PM activities. Evaluate injection molding machines and perform predictive maintenance on all know issues.
- Perform basic maintenance functions to the facility including but not limited to changing light bulbs, simple plumbing repairs, cleaning and painting, cleaning and repair of windows, doors and grounds, and others as needed.
- Participate in teams and review committees as directed or needed.
- Be aware and promote awareness of all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and regulated policies and procedures.
- Observe, adhere to and maintain current knowledge of all Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and safety guidelines. Foster, facilitate and encourage a safe work environment and abide by all safety procedures and standards of the company.
- Wearing and unwavering support of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a high priority.
- Maintain organization of and label all tools, supplies, parts, spare parts, and all other items used in the normal course of performing in the role.
- Stay abreast of current maintenance issues through training and education sought through reading or online materials and training initiatives provided through the company.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel in support of overall equipment and building repairs. Provide prompt and courteous response to operators’ and supervisors’ requests for maintenance support.
- Demonstrate proficient and safe use of all power and hand tools.
- Operate tow motor and scissor lift as needed in a safe manner following all rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate problem solving skills by identifying root causes of problems and work to correct them.
- Identify and engage in activities that reduce scrap and lower down time.
- Maintain maintenance areas in accordance with housekeeping guidelines, GMP, 5-S, and SAFE audit guidelines.
- Develop and foster effective working relationships along the manufacturing and engineering continuum and among other key functional units of the organization.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- High school diploma or GED.
- Tow motor and scissor lift license or certification provided through the company within 90 days is a requirement for completion.
- 5 years of experience with plastic injection molding production and assembly equipment with specific hands on expertise on high volume/speed and multi-cavity presses.
- Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and a sharp focus on safety. Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Ability to read, comprehend and retain information. Basic mathematical aptitude and skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Tactful, courteous, polite, patient, and professional at all times.
- Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Proactive problem solver.
- Very good organization, follow-up and time management skills along with the ability to effectively multi-task.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and verify activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
- Verify food contact areas are free of contamination after PM activities take place
- Ensure only approved food safe chemicals are used in all food contact areas
- Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and data documented correctly at all times.
- Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to Quality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties, prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Lifting of up to 30 pounds above shoulder height. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. May need to walk varying distances, climb stairs, and bend.
