About the role
As the Lead Production Technician, you will be overseeing and managing our production processes, including the assembly and testing of prototypes and production systems. You will work closely with the engineering teams, leveraging various production techniques to ensure seamless operations. Your role will also encompass managing the lab, inventory and supplier relationships.
This position reports directly to the CTO and requires full-time presence at our Boston, MA office, five days a week.
What you’ll do
- Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules to meet project deadlines and customer demands.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless production processes. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to keep them informed of production status and any issues.
- Assembly and Repair: Build and test sub-assemblies, prototypes and production systems. Repair and troubleshoot prototype and production units.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure product meets specified high quality standards. Conduct thorough inspections and tests to identify and resolve any quality issues.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Lab Management: Ensure the lab space is well-maintained and organized, including the upkeep of 3D printers and various tools and machines.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components. Coordinate with suppliers to order parts and materials as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Use lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to optimize production processes.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional technical support to customers by diagnosing, repairing, and resolving hardware issues. Collaborate with the team to address and resolve customer concerns related to production.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, processes, and assembly documentation, including schedules, inventory levels, and quality control measures. Prepare and present production reports to senior management.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
Who you are
- Autonomous and driven, with 8+ years of experience in assembly and repair of hardware products
- Passionate about building and repairing hardware products
- Thrive and excel in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Experience with 3D printing
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
- Advanced experience in soldering
- Proficient with CAM and CAD software such as SolidWorks and Fusion 360
Bonus Points
- Experience with PLM,MRP, and ERP software
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Experience with building and flying drones
- Experience with microelectronics, including basic embedded programming (Arduinos, Raspberry PIs, etc)
- Experience with electronic design and assembly including through-hole and surface-mount techniques
