Full Job Description

Job Description: Pipe Layer is responsible for working in a safe and effective manner. Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, and other materials. Assist Foreman and Equipment Operators. Pipe Layers need to have the ability to communicate with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner.

Summary: Granite Excavation is seeking Pipe Layers. Granite is a family owned construction company located in Cascade, ID, as well as operates out of the Treasure Valley area. We specialize in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, and miscellaneous concrete structures in the public and private sectors. We also aim to provide turnkey GC packages in multiple private industries, as well as acting as General Contractors on complex public works projects. Applicant needs to have a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a drug test. Granite is an equal employment opportunity company.

Primary responsibilities

 Work well with all co-workers, residents and customers

 Follow direction of Foreman and Equipment Operators as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite

 Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

 Perform daily safety and maintenance checks

 Advise the Foreman/Equipment Operators of any requirements for maintenance or repairs

 Practice workplace safety

 Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

 Ability to Operate equipment safely and efficiently is a plus procedures

 Must have strong work ethics

The Pipe Layer has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling, shoveling and laboring for heavy equipment operators. The Pipe Layer will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Pipe Layer must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.

Environmental Conditions
(The nature of adverse environmental conditions affecting the incumbent)
The Pipe Layer must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

The Pipe Layer must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.
