Galvanize Law is a women-owned and operated construction law firm with 10 lawyers. We grew from a team of five people to 17 in less than two years, by offering flexible and online work environments, competitive salaries, and valuing team member contributions.

Galvanize Law is seeking a senior transactional paralegal and a senior litigation paralegal to join our amazing team of client-centered professionals serving the construction industry. For the senior litigation position, the ideal candidate has at least five years of litigation experience and is able to manage multiple ongoing complex litigations. For the senior transactional paralegal, the ideal candidate has significant real estate and transactional experience, including experience preparing and recording mechanic’s liens. Additional experience in collections and lien foreclosure litigation preferred.

Our work environment is semi-remote, with all files and documentation saved in our firm management system and on our remote server. Our paralegals must have a high proficiency in learning new computer programs and be self-motivated to ensure accuracy and completion of all work in an on-line environment. Paralegals work directly with our attorneys to investigate cases, communicate with clients, obtain, and organize case documents and information, identify case deadlines, and ensure the legal team meets those deadlines. The ideal paralegal candidates are organized, professional, accountable, has a strong attention to detail and committed to helping us meet our clients' needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage case files, including: accurately document and input party information and contact information into firm management system; ensure pleadings and disclosures are saved to the proper files and in the proper locations; calendar all deadlines, including client reporting deadlines as well as court mandated deadlines; and review and prepare client documents for disclosure, including reviewing for privilege, redacting, preparing privilege logs, add exhibit stickers, format documents and bates numbering documents
Communicate with clients, interviewing them and gathering documents and information about the case to ensure completeness of case file and any mandatory disclosures
Respond timely and promptly to client inquiries, continually managing client communications and coordinating with attorneys as needed
Obtain ownership and encumbrance reports, check legal descriptions, draft mechanics’ liens and demand letters
Draft legal documents, including subpoenas, complaints, summonses, initial disclosures, expert disclosures, written discovery, discovery responses, case management orders, trial management orders, motions, and affidavits, under supervision of attorneys
File and serve pleadings and other filings via state, federal, and private e-filing systems, calendaring responsive deadlines pursuant to Court Orders and the Rules of Civil procedure
Coordinate service of process and background checks/investigations with vendors
Perform research on opposing parties, including prior litigations, news articles, social media entries
Research construction, property and title issues, including learning how to access and obtain information from regional building department and assessors’ office online portals
Organize and communicate with the legal team, ensuring that upcoming tasks and deadlines are being covered and addressed
Prepare requests for documents including CORA requests, Telephone records requests and Subpoena Duces Tecum
Assist in preparation for trial, including identification and preparation of exhibits, designation of deposition testimony, deposition summaries, Motions in Limine, orders of proof, jury instructions, witness and exhibit lists and other key pre-trial filings

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in paralegal studies (or equivalent experience)
Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
Experience with learning new computer programs and systems, ability and motivation to independently research and engage in training to learn new systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Able to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
Strong writing skills, ability to write clearly and professionally
Ability to manage voluminous files and exhibits
Ability to track and identify deadlines across multiple cases and clients, and to prioritize assigned tasks and duties to ensure deadlines are met
Knowledge of legal terminology, federal and state rules of legal procedure
Experience in case management from inception to trial or settlement
Experience using a data management system
Team player
Commitment to a favorable outcome for clients and high quality of work product
Ability to meet billable hour requirements without direct supervision
Experience in the fields of construction litigation, mechanic’s lien foreclosure, insurance defense litigation, employment and real estate is preferred
Experience in the construction industry is preferred

Job Type: Full Time

Salary range: $75,500 - $90,000, depending on experience and billing/revenue goals
