The National Rural Water Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to training, supporting, and promoting the water and wastewater professionals that serve small and rural communities across the country. NRWA provides training and technical assistance through 50 affiliated State Rural Water Associations that currently have over 31,000 utility system members. Rural Water training and technical assistance covers every aspect of operating, managing, and financing water and wastewater utilities.
Training Specialists are professionals who are instrumental in strengthening the training and technical capacity of small rural water systems and their personnel, which ultimately results in the reduction of the number of public water systems out of compliance with health-based standards. Training Specialists are key to ensuring certified operators receive the training to retain their licensure.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Implement a defined collaborative planning process with appropriate regulatory authorities for the State and stakeholders.
- Provide training and technical assistance to small rural public water systems, tribal-owned PWSs, and underserved communities.
- Provide in-person classes to PWS operators for continuing education training (CEU-approved courses).
- Must be able to travel to rural PWSs to provide on-site technical assistance training working with system personnel regarding problem-solving, and compliance training, but not limited to.
- Manage and document the work performed in the program.
- Coordinate and work with NRWA staff in areas where they may have a role in the program.
Qualifications and Skills
- Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.
- Exceptional relationship building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel for training and on-site assistance to State Rural Water Associations and NRWA events.
- Experience and knowledge of providing CEU-approved training courses.
- Detailed knowledge of the water industry.
- Demonstrated competency in MS Office 365 and proven ability to use digital tools to work with a nationwide staff.
Benefits and Compensation
- This position has a salary range of $60,000-$65,000.
