Position Purpose
- This electrical engineering position supports Sterling’s engineering department in current and new projects for aircraft modifications across all aircraft types (Part 23, 25, 27, 29)
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and review electrical drawings such as wiring diagrams and electrical schematics using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD to support active projects
- Create electrical solutions for aircraft modifications (STCs/ATCs), including wire sizing, wire runs, circuit breakers, relays, switches, terminal blocks, etc.
- Support system level and/or aircraft level Electrical Load Analysis (ELA)
- Provides technical assistance on projects for electrical aspects
- Must be able to interact with other engineers, shop personnel, & customers as required
- Works under limited supervision, but position reports to the Director of Engineering
- Work will be reviewed against project requirements for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives of each project
- Contribute to the improvement of daily processes and project layouts
- Ability to travel (up to 20%) if needed
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Preferred) or equivalent experience
- Required Major(s): Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution, with a graduation date no later than May 2024.
Experience Required
- Aerospace/Aircraft Electrical Engineering experience, entry level to 5 years preferred
- Must be computer literate (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be organized and able to track progress of tasks to completion date
- Proficiency is using measuring devices to determine electrical amps, volts, ohms, etc.
Bonus Knowledge:
- Familiarization with FAA regulations, orders, and ACs is a plus
- Familiarization with aircraft electrical design principles, components, & hardware is a plus
- Strong aptitude and problem-solving skills are a plus
- Knowledge with DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 is a plus
