POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyers Assistant role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for supporting a Buyer with daily administrative functions to ensure all business needs are met. This role assists with entering data, creating reports, and conducting product research. The Buyers Assistant role has determination to get the job done and willingness to try new things when needed, including, but not limited to, generating purchase orders and monitoring their flow through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and follow-up on purchase orders.
- Create and maintain various reports, including purchase order analysis, sales, and Paragon reports.
- Correspond with OSJL stores and all current and future vendors.
- Schedule appointments with vendors.
- Screen phone calls, answer inquiries, and communicate pertinent information to the buyers.
- Conduct product research as needed.
- Perform related administrative duties to support the Buying Department.
- Perform the above duties under minimal supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 0-2 years of professional experience in imports or buying, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in office/administrative duties is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows OS and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential.
- Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

The hourly pay for this position is $ 18.00 -21.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
