Job Title: Lead Therapist of Occupational & Physical Therapy
Organizational Relationship:
Reports to: Principal
Job Summary: The clinical coordinator supervises, evaluates, and/or treats and observes clinical treatment to children identified by the school district as a student with a disability as outlined in Part 200 Regulations of IDEA. The clinical coordinator assures the treating therapists utilize principles of growth and development in establishing guidelines for the implementation of the children’s IEPs. The clinical coordinator monitors that services are provided in conformance with all regulatory bodies governing the populations, school policy and procedure and in compliance with NYS Occupational & Physical Therapy Practice Act.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Occupational/Physical Therapy from an institution accredited by AOTA
- NYS License
- 7-10 years’ experience as an Occupational/Physical Therapist
- 3-5 years’ experience in Pre-School
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the school’s CPSE IEP Coordinator regarding services for children.
- Instruct OT/PT staff in CPSE attendance and documentation procedures.
- Review and evaluate work-related performance of Occupational & Physical Therapists
- Consult with therapists regarding treatment of students.
- Recruit, interview and, in consultation with principal, select professional Occupational & Physical Therapy staff
- Designate certified Occupational Therapist to supervise Clinical Students and OT volunteers.
- Participate as senior management in program development, long-term planning and quality assurance via weekly supervisors’ meetings
- Conduct inventory, order necessary supplies/equipment and insure proper maintenance of therapy gym
- Coordinate evaluations and screens of students
- Maintain current malpractice insurance
- Develop and implement special school events in compliance with IEP goals and NYS Standards
- Assist with daily bussing
- Complete RSI and RS2’s as required
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing classroom strategies and activities to enhance motor development and sensory processing
- Conduct department meetings
- Keep informed of Team Meeting discussion’s
- Provide in-service programs for faculty as requested by Principal
- Present at least one Parent Institute during the year
- Assure that schedules, session notes, reports and other required paperwork is being submitted on time by therapists and that the quality of said paperwork meets expectations and complete above work when covering therapist is not present or on leave
- Participate in managing and planning school wide activities, special committees and/or safety team.
- Provide OT/PT services as per your caseload.
- Attend Team Meetings of students on your caseload, when unable to attend fill out Team Meeting Form and submit to Team Leader
- Assure that first attends are completed on a timely basis
- Assure Medicaid Compliance Training and Child Abuse Training is complete
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming and effective work ethic
- Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines
- Perform and duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation
- Notify school of absences due to illness, emergency leave, normal vacation periods, or professional meetings that will affect agreed upon services in the school.
- Attend 3-5 evening orientation/conference events with parents.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
