NURSE ANALYST
The Attorney General of Arkansas Tim Griffin is seeking to hire a RN to serve as an Nurse Analyst in the in the Medicaid Fraud Division.
General Information
The Nurse Analyst works as part of a dynamic team with attorneys and investigators to evaluate medical records in fast moving cases involving abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents in health care facilities. The analyst may also work with prosecutors of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) on nursing-related issues.
Primary Job Duties
Review and evaluate allegations of abuse and/or neglect of residents in health care facilities and the circumstances surrounding the events to determine if further investigation is warranted.
- Request, review, and analyze complex medical documentation as related to the provisions of care delivered by health care providers in all health care settings. Evaluate the implementation of the standards of care.
- Serve as a resource for the MFCU staff by explaining medical terminology, medical procedures, expected standards of care, and differing responsibilities of health care providers. Provide information regarding the implementation of the provisions of care/standards of practice in health care settings. Provide detailed written and oral reports. Assist investigators and prosecutors as a medical resource.
- Assist attorneys in case preparation.
- Prepare and perform outreach presentations for other state and law enforcement agencies, long-term care staff, and the public regarding the mission of the MFCU to increase awareness and potential referrals of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and fraud cases.
- Work closely with the other state agencies to coordinate investigations, generate referrals, and to establish relationships to promote the mission of the MFCU.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be added at the discretion of the supervisor and/or Deputy Attorney General.
Job Requirements – Education and Experience
Minimum requirements:
Graduate of Registered Nurse program from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Must possess a current Arkansas license issued by the Arkansas Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurse and must be in good standing.
At least two (2) years’ experience as Director of Nursing in a long-term care facility; minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Must be resourceful, enthusiastic, and able to demonstrate initiative. Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure and possess the ability to multi-task.
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
Experience in a variety of patient/resident care settings (long term care, assisted living, home health, hospice, hospital, group homes, e.g.).
Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations related to health care and health care facilities, particularly in the Medicaid program.
Experience in nursing administration: Director of Nurses, Nursing Administrator, Nurse Supervisor, Charge Nurse, Risk Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, e.g.
Experience as a legal nurse consultant.
Certified professional coder.
