General Description
The Training Manager for MCAN is responsible for coordinating training and an annual conference for members of the Community Action Community. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Coordinator manages grants for training-related activities and personally trains and provides technical assistance on poverty prevention topics. Knowledge of best practices in training and poverty prevention is required. The position is full time onsite in Jefferson City, MO in a fast-paced environment. Excellent compensation and benefits.
Specific duties
- Coordinate and Support professional development within Missouri’s Community Action Network.
- Facilitate and coordinate professional alliance meetings.
- Develop and facilitate communities of practice around needed topics.
- Identify, develop, and deliver curriculum around Community Action trending topics.
- Deliver technical assistance within Community Action Agencies across Missouri.
- Coordinate 12-24 training events annually.
- Secure trainers or deliver training content.
- Promote training events through social media, constant contact communications, and through web-based registration portals.
- Manage logistics of registration and record keeping.
- Develop and analyze training evaluations.
- Generate revenue with training content.
- Coordinate an annual 3-day conference in the State of Missouri.
- Lead conference planning and execution including coordination of national speakers, food and beverage orders, and conference events.
- Work with conference volunteers to operate the conference successfully.
- Secure local and national speakers and event sponsors.
- Lead logistics and registration for 200 attendees.
- Lead all aspects of project management for the event.
- Manage training grants.
- Manage project budgets, activities, and required outputs.
- Write necessary reports for federal, state, and private grants.
- Administer an annual training survey to Missouri’s Community Action Agency staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in education, poverty prevention strategies, training, curriculum development, human resources and/or social work. Backgrounds that are valued include customer service, report writing, social services, government and nonprofit operations. CCAP, NCRI or NCRT, FDC Facilitator Credential preferred.

The Training Manager will have the following experience and attributes:

- Technologically savvy, able to set up training related equipment like overhead projectors, Zoom, and video conferencing products.

- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to MCAN’s mission and members.
- Ability to prioritize and manage projects effectively.
- Ability to work on multiple work teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, Association members and the public.
- Must have excellent telephone skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and writing skills.
Software: Knowledge of Neon, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Trello, Zoom, Constant Contact and Survey Monkey preferred.
Compensation: Estimated rate of $21.63/hr. to $24.04/hr. Excellent benefit package: Health, Dental, Vision, 503(b), disability insurance, and generous paid time off and holidays.
Other requirements: Must be able to travel in state and out of state as required; and have own insured transportation. Must be bondable. Must be willing to work in a team environment and coordinate activities with all staff.
