Job Summary
Manages the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CADS) which includes but not limited to: Software Development, Application Testing, System Maintenance and Troubleshooting. Also supports PTC Applications and Processes through research, software configuration, testing and configuration changes. Provides 24/7 support coverage for all Dispatch System activities.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Supports all aspects of the CADS Dispatch System including Software, Configuration and Maintenance changes/upgrades.
- Supports loading of configuration and software changes in Production, Training, and Testing environments ensuring all changes have passed all testing protocols prior to installation.
- Build, maintain, and update the System Configuration Tool (SCT) data files for the CADS Dispatch System maintaining alignment with track and signal system field changes.
- Supports testing and implementation of the Global Information Systems (GIS) sub-division files within the CADS Dispatch System.
- Supports the GIS team to ensure proper measurements of existing and new assets are properly aligned within the Dispatch System for PTC applications.
- Use the Train Management and Geo-fence systems to improve Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) calculations and OS reporting measurements.
- Provide Development, Research, Testing and Troubleshooting support, virtually or in person, for Dispatch Operations Business Partners as needed.
- Manage system access for various transportation applications as well as Foreign Line workers.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by the department manager.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree/2-year Degree
- 2 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or Project Management
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or Project Management

Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of the Computer-Aided Dispatching System (CADS) dispatch application
- Knowledge of signal design as pertains to dispatching
- Railroad industry knowledge
- Advanced problem resolution skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to provide 24x7 management support
